About camino soul travel

Welcome to Camino Soul Travel – a journey to your soul. Camino Soul Travel was born by bringing together two passions: a love for personal development and a love for the Camino de Santiago. The Camino is where we feel at ease. To live this, we now also run our own albergue where everyone is welcome to share their story. On a Camino, you encounter all sorts of things; it can be overwhelming. We believe that facilitating this process benefits your personal growth. To fully focus on this, it's great that you don't have to worry about accommodation or preparation for the route. A Camino is life-changing, both for you and those around you. Our mission is to help as many people as possible experience this – doing what brings joy to your soul.

About Gepke bruinsma (42)

I often talk to people about the Camino who say they want to walk it themselves, but always have a reason why they can't. That's when I get the itch. I'd love to help you take the first steps on your Camino. Getting people moving is my passion. I've been working on personal development since 2010. I have a coaching diploma and worked as a trainer and coach at Krauthammer.

After 10 years of working in the corporate world, I ended up with a severe burnout. I had completely lost myself.

Because of incorrect beliefs and thoughts, I did so much that wasn't right for me. This forced me to self-examine and address my unhealthy patterns. I wanted to understand myself; why was I so restless?

On the Camino Primitivo in 2019, I experienced happiness for the first time. I danced and sang in the streets, just by myself. A whole new world opened up for me. Here I could truly be myself, and that filled my soul with joy.

In 2021, I walked the Camino Francés. During five weeks and 800 km of walking, I confronted my deepest fears. Not fun, but necessary. By allowing all my aspects to be present and accepting that life is a cycle of ebb and flow, the anxiety disappeared. I learned to trust myself and life. I was even looking forward to embarking on a journey with myself!

After the Camino, my life took a remarkable turn. Since then, everything I dreamed of has become reality at breakneck speed. Thanks to the Camino, I met my partner, we now have a beautiful daughter, and we run a hostel in Spain on my favorite Camino Primitivo.

Ever since, I've been a fan of the Camino de Santiago; the feeling I get every time I set foot on the path is priceless. On the Camino, conversations always turn to something, and that's what I love about it.

"My mission is to let as many people as possible experience the feeling of the Camino. I want everyone to feel at home with themselves."

about thijs haegens (44)

I used to think that working hard, earning a lot of money, and accumulating things was the purpose of life. A house, a tree, and a pet. When my second relationship ended and I felt my work wasn't making me happy anymore, I knew I wanted to do things differently. I started looking for what truly made me happy. I sold everything and went traveling alone in my campervan.

With tears in my eyes and nauseous with nerves, I sat behind the wheel. Eventually, I ended up in Spain. It was a two-year reset. Alone in my campervan, I searched for myself. Being alone hit me hard, and I had to reinvent myself. At first, it was lonely, but later, I learned to love myself. By doing what I love again, I found myself again. Back to basics.

Being creative and hiking and surfing gave me the space to explore what I wanted in life. I discovered I primarily wanted to work outdoors and with my hands. First as a gardener, and now as a travel guide with Camino Soul Travel and a chef at Albergue El Texu. Living and working off the beaten track, seeking adventure.

I now dare to trust my entrepreneurial drive; I know I can handle anything. The setbacks in my life have given me great resilience. I've learned that I can always trust myself, that everything will always work out. I never dared to dream of a new wife or even a family, nor of having my own hostel on the Camino.

"I like to inspire others to follow their hearts too."
